Artist Statement

Art fuels a need to constantly reevalue and enrich my own perception of the world. Through the creation of symbols, and their interrelation, new aspects of meaning are formed which further impel me to new creation and understanding. I aspire to communicate through visual symbols these conceptual connections to the viewer.

The techniques I choose derive from the concept being born. Ideas flow in an immaterial manner, but usually have natural affinities with a determined type of technique. As the work developes, its matter becomes progressively clearer. The techniques I practice are photography, painting, printmaking, drawing and sculpture.

My current work evolves around the idea of a inherent polarity to our existence. Geommetry, physics, logic, the conscious mind on one side, and emotions, chaos, unconscious thoughts on the other. Both are joined in the universe, but our perception of their duplicity generates tensions which we aspire to relieve.
